Terms and conditions
The rental terms of Supercars Barcelona: who may drive, what is included, the deposit, insurance and excess, kilometres, fuel, fines, cancellation and how bookings are confirmed.
Last updated
These terms govern every booking of a vehicle from Supercars Barcelona ("we", "us") made on supercars.barcelona or agreed by email, phone or WhatsApp. By ticking the acceptance box at checkout you enter into a rental contract with us under these terms. Please read them before paying; they are also sent with your booking confirmation. The version you accepted is recorded with your booking.
1. Who we are
Supercars Barcelona is the trading name of the company that owns and rents the vehicles shown on this site, established in Barcelona, Spain, and registered with the Catalan police (Mossos d'Esquadra) as a vehicle rental operator under Royal Decree 933/2021. Company registration details, tax number and registered address are shown on your invoice and are available on request at [email protected].
2. The booking
- A booking is a request to rent one named vehicle for the calendar days you select, from 9:00 on the first day to 18:00 on the last day (Europe/Madrid). A "weekend" is Saturday 9:00 to Sunday 18:00; a "week" is seven consecutive days.
- Your dates are held from the moment you start payment. Once payment is complete the booking is under review: we verify the driver's age, licence and identity. We confirm by email within one working day. If we cannot confirm (for example, the driver does not meet the requirements in section 3), we refund the payment in full and the booking is cancelled.
- A booking is confirmed only when you receive our confirmation email. Until then no contract of rental exists beyond the obligations in this section.
- Prices shown on the site are in euros and exclude VAT (IVA) at 21 %, which is added at checkout and itemised on your invoice. There are no card surcharges.
3. Driver requirements
- Every driver must be at least 28 years old and have held a full driving licence for at least 5 years. Licences from the EU/EEA are accepted as issued; other licences must be in the Vienna or Geneva Convention format or accompanied by an International Driving Permit. These requirements come from our insurer and admit no exceptions.
- Before handover each driver must present the original driving licence, a passport or national identity card, and a credit card in their own name for the deposit.
- Only drivers named in the booking may drive. An additional driver may be added for the published daily fee and must meet the same requirements.
4. What is included
The published price includes: the vehicle with a full tank at handover; delivery and collection in Barcelona city and at El Prat airport; comprehensive insurance with the excess stated in section 6; the kilometres stated for your package (150 km per day, 450 km per weekend, 750 km per week); a photographic handover report; and 21 % VAT once added at checkout.
5. Extras
Extras are priced in advance and charged only if used, at the rates published on the site at the time of booking (plus VAT): extra hours beyond the booked return time, extra kilometres beyond the included allowance, an additional driver, delivery outside Barcelona city and El Prat (Sitges and the Garraf, or elsewhere in Catalonia), handover before 8:00 or after 21:00, cross-border permission for France and Andorra, and refuelling. Extras agreed after booking are invoiced separately.
6. Deposit, insurance and excess
- At handover we pre-authorise a deposit of €7,500 on a credit card in the driver's name. It is not charged. The pre-authorisation is released within five working days of the return, less any amounts due under these terms.
- The vehicle is insured for third-party liability at the minimums required by Spanish law and for own damage. Your maximum liability per damage event under the included insurance is the excess of €7,500, unless the damage results from a breach of these terms (section 8), in which case you are liable for the full loss.
- By providing your card at booking and at handover you authorise us to charge, after the rental and with an itemised statement, amounts due for damage up to the excess, fines, extra kilometres, extra hours, refuelling and cleaning beyond normal use.
7. Use of the vehicle
The vehicle may be driven only on public roads in Spain, and in France and Andorra with the cross-border extra agreed at least 24 hours before handover. It may not be taken to Italy, Portugal or the United Kingdom, nor onto a ferry. It may not be used for racing, timed events, track days, driver training, towing, sub-rental, carrying passengers for hire, or any illegal purpose, nor driven under the influence of alcohol or drugs, nor by anyone not named in the booking. Smoking is not permitted. You must comply with all traffic rules, including Barcelona's low-emission zone (ZBE) rules, and secure the vehicle when unattended.
8. Your liability
You are liable for the full cost of loss or damage, without the benefit of the excess, when it results from a breach of section 7, from gross negligence, from the use of the wrong fuel, from damage to the interior, tyres, wheels, underbody or roof not covered by the insurer, or from loss of the keys or documents. You are also liable for any loss of use while the vehicle is repaired, calculated at the day rate, up to a maximum of 14 days.
9. Fuel, kilometres and return
The vehicle is delivered with a full tank and must be returned full; otherwise we charge the published refuelling fee plus fuel at cost. Kilometres beyond the included allowance are charged at the published rate, read from the odometer at handover and return. Late return is charged by the hour at the published extra-hour rate; a delay of more than four hours without prior agreement is charged as an additional day and may be treated as unauthorised use.
10. Fines and tolls
Traffic fines, tolls and parking charges incurred during the rental are your responsibility. When a fine is notified to us we identify the driver to the authority, as the law requires, within the legal deadline, and inform you. Fines are passed through at cost; we do not charge an administration fee for identifying the driver.
11. Cancellation
Because a rental is for a specific date, the 14-day right of withdrawal for distance contracts does not apply (article 103 l) of the Spanish consumer law). Our cancellation policy, shown before payment, is: free cancellation up to 14 days before pick-up (full refund); 50 % refund between 14 and 7 days before pick-up; no refund within 7 days of pick-up or for a no-show. If we cancel for any reason other than your breach of these terms — including if we cannot confirm the driver, or the vehicle becomes unavailable — you receive a full refund and we owe nothing further. Refunds go to the original payment method.
12. Breakdown and accidents
In case of breakdown, accident or theft, call us immediately on the number in your confirmation and, where people are injured or a third party is involved, the emergency services (112). Do not admit liability. Complete the accident report with the other party where possible. We arrange assistance and, where we can, a replacement; if the incident is not caused by your breach, unused rental days are refunded.
13. Personal data
We process your data as described in our privacy policy. This includes transmitting the details of every rental to the Mossos d'Esquadra register within 24 hours, as Royal Decree 933/2021 requires.
14. Complaints and applicable law
Write to [email protected] and we will answer within ten working days. Official complaint forms are available on request. These terms are governed by Spanish law. Consumers may bring proceedings before the courts of their domicile; otherwise the courts of Barcelona have jurisdiction. Consumers in the EU may also use the European online dispute resolution platform.
